He was born into a loving, Christian family and grew up
in the Canadian Tundra of Regina, Saskatchewan and Toronto, Ontario. Jeremy
gave his life to Jesus early in life and yet feel that the total surrender to
Christ happened on a rock at the age of twenty-one. After that experience,
God revealed His will for the trajectory of a life in ministry and he was
baptized by immersion sometime later. During that time God introduced
Jeremy to the woman of his dreams! April and Jeremy were married in the
summer of 1999 in her home town of Abbotsford, British Columbia.
His
formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry from Brercrest
Bible College and a Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership from Bethel
Seminary. Both of these studies include foundational theological, biblical
and pastoral training. He also was educated deeply by his experiences in
the fourteen years of vocational ministry in two church settings. He has
also served as the Youth and Worship Pastor at Converge (Baptist General
Conference) church, Immanuel Baptist in Hoquiam, Washington and as the Youth
Pastor at Kenwood Baptist in Cincinnati, Ohio (American Baptist). He
received his ordination from the American Baptist Church through their rigorous
theological and pastoral call process.
Jeremy's family is also excited about the opportunity to
move and serve in Portland,
Jeremy was selected from a list of 60 applicants.
He was invited to come to Temple so the congregation could meet and hear him
speak, which on June 9, 2013, he did.
He also met with the different committees,
presented himself, took that opportunity to ask and answer questions that was
presented to him. He also met with the different age groups, Sunday school
classes, elder board, and church staff. Jeremy and April were then
presented with opportunity to accept the Senior Pastorate position.
Jeremy Taylor was installed as Senior Pastor on September
7, 2013. He became the 24th Senior Pastor at Temple Baptist Church.
