The Fourth Quarter
Former Columbia Baptist Conference Executive Secretary, Jack Bergeson, has spent hours diligently working on the history of the last twenty-five years in our district. This is intended to supplement the Seventy-Five Years History of Columbia Baptist Conference, which was authored by Gordon Carlson and published in 1964.
Dr. Bergeson's book, entitled The Fourth Quarter and intended to be one aspect of our centennial celebration, is scheduled to be released from the printers by May 1st.
Dr. Bergeson's extensive experience in the churches and work of Columbia and his penchant for details and careful research make him highly qualified for producing this volume which will be of value for years to come.
The text about and photo of Dr. Bergson, was copied for the January-February 1989 issue of The Conference Call.
This book has been very useful to me while writing this history page.
How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to Your
word. I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray
from Your commands. I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not
sin against You. Praise be to You, O LORD; teach me Your decrees.
With my lips I recount all the laws that come from Your mouth.
I rejoice in following Your statutes as one rejoices
in great riches. I meditate on Your precepts and consider
Your ways. I delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect
Your word.
