Henrietta L. Carlson

 

         Henrietta was born August 30, 1915 in Portland.  She accepted Christ into her life on September, 1924 at Temple Baptist Mrs. Clifford Gustafson, the former Henrietta Carlson Church and was baptized by John Alfred Erickson in February 21, 1927.  She attended Multnomah College, in 1935-1937 and entered Bethel Seminary in 1937 and graduated in 1940.  She then attended Linfield College, in McMinnville, Oregon in 1941.  She was licensed October 1944 by Temple Baptist Church, in Portland.  Henrietta entered Social Welfare work for the State Public Welfare Commission of Oregon in 1941-1942.  She was a Junior Missionary for the Columbia Baptist conference during 1942-1946.  She supervised missionary work in Federal Housing Project. in Bremerton, Washington and St. John's Woods in Portland.  She was a Church missionary, for Chicago Emerald Avenue Church in 1946.  Henrietta married Clifford Gustafson who was Director of Christian Education for the Columbia Conference.  They played a key part in the early stages of Lake Retreat.
