On
April 21, 2005, the Keenager Group from Temple Baptist Church, went on a
day outing to The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. We saw an
interesting film about a group of adventurers and explorers who in 2004,
started on a rafting trip at the head waters of the Blue Nile River in
Africa. The Blue Nile originates from the Springs of Sakala, upstream
of the Lake Tana in Ethiopia at an altitude of approximately 5,940
ft. At Khartoum, Sudan, the Blue Nile merges with the White
Nile and proceeds on to the Mediterranean Sea at the port of Alexandria,
Egypt. The journey took 4 months to complete. The Blue Nile is so
called because its water is more visibly purer for most of the year than the
grey-coloured water of the White Nile.
The OMNI MAX theater screen at OMSI is a pretty close to 180 degree side to side viewing. The screen measures 50 feet high or 5 stories. You sit in comfortable, reclined seats that are built on a 30 degree slope so you feel like you are right in the center of the action. If you are flying over a mountainous terrain, for example, you get a feeling that you are actually there in the plane, helicopter or balloon except there is no wind in your face, and there is no need for goggles.
