Dr. Fred Prinzing
1975-1986
Fred Prinzing was called to

received a Doctor of Ministry in 1972 from Andover-Newton Theological
Seminary, In the years since his ordination, he has served churches in New
England, Michigan, and started churches in Arizona and California. Pastor
is known as an effective administrator and speaker. Dr. Prinzing has
brought a family-centered emphasis to the church which has included the
Faith-Promise Missions Program and a Discipleship Ministry. While serving
at Temple, Dr. Prinzing was a part-time teacher at Western Conservative Baptist
Seminary and involved many student as interns at Temple. Since 1980 he has
served as chairman of the Baptist General Conference Home Missions Board.
In addition to his teaching at Western Seminary, Fred
Prinzing has assembled an impressive church staff.

Ministries

and in various capacities.
Dave also worked with Terry Hollister helping with the youth.

Pastor Prinzing left Temple on July 31,1986 to accept a job
at Bethel College as Theological Professor. Since them he has
sort of retired and is living in Everett, Washington. Dr. Prinzing in the
meantime, has served as Interim pastors at churches including Kenmore,
Washington and Warren, Oregon.
One thing I have found unique about Pastor Prinzing when he
wrote or preached was the way he outlined his message. He gave
everything his best effort and it was evident in the way he used words. To
give a specific example: In the 1976 Pastors Report in the Church's Annual
report he wrote: "In some ways it seems like I have been the Senior
Pastor at Temple for many years. On the other hand, I realize
everyday that I am still learning the implications of this responsibility.
As I reflect on this past year, I would like to use the word TEMPLE, to
express my sentiments." He goes on to take the word Temple and
use the letters in the word to set the subject for his report, T=Thanksgiving,
E=Evaluation, M=Ministries, P=Prayer, L=Lenten Services,
E=Expectancy. I
for one always enjoyed listening to his messages. His preaching was always
down to earth, and so very interesting it made you listen for the little
surprises he threw in. He used examples from his own life and the
world around him in his messages. Dr. Prinzing once in a while
mentioned the latest bumper sticker he had seen. The following excerpt
was taken from the 1984 Annual Report from Temple: Before we can move
forward, we must move closer to God. A bumper sticker I saw stated,
"If God seems far away, guess who moved."
Dr. Prinzing opened his 1976 report with these words from the
book of Acts 2:46,47. (Berkely translation) "...They regularly
frequented the Temple with a united purpose, and at home they broke bread
together. So they received nourishment, praising God with happy and
unruffled hearts, and enjoying the good will of all the people, while daily the
Lord added to the group those who were being saved."
The book Dr. Prinzing was writing, "Handling Church Tensions" was completed in 1986.
One of Dr. Prinzing's favorite quotations-"We are not responsible for our adult children but to them!"
Oh how great is thy
goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast
wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! Be of good
courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
Psalm 31:19, 24
