Rev. Uno N. Brauer

1889 - 1890

Rev. Brauer came from Illinois on June 1, 1889.  He was described as an earnest and devoted worker, traveling around the Pastor and Mrs. Brauer countryside preaching of the deeper spiritual life.  He ended his pastorate on January 1, 1891.  He was blind for several years but was able to type letters on his typewriter.  These letters were filled with rejoicing in the Lord and with earnest admonition to believers to be faithful and to be ever mindful of the Lord's soon coming again.

In December, 1889, Pastor Brauer and Rev. Okerson represented the Portland church at a meeting in Seattle, where the Swedish Baptist Conference of the North Pacific Coast (later Columbia Baptist Conference) was organized with Rev. Okerson as Moderator.  The following year the meetings were held in Portland and the name changed to the Scandinavian Baptist Conference.

Rev. Brauer also served as an Interim Pastor at Temple in the year 1902.  Click Here to read more from the notes of Harley
