Ellis E. Eklof Sr.
1956-1960
Ellis Emanuel Eklof was born October 14, 1889 in
Arlington, New Jersey. He was converted on
November 28, 1905 in Arlington
and baptized there on June 7, 1909. Pastor Eklof graduated from Bethel in
1913. Prior to graduation he served with the Salvation Army for four
years. He was pastor at Orleans, South Dakota, from 1913 to 1916,
Strandberg, South Dakota, from 1916 to 1919, Cleveland, Ohio from 1919 to
1923, Chicago Grace Baptist from 1929 to 1935, New York, New York, 1935 to 1940,
and Moline, Illinois in 1940

Rev. Ellis Eklof Sr. was called in 1956 to serve as interim pastor, He had previously retired from the ministry, after having served churches n the East, but came out of retirement to serve Temple. His ministry was well received by the congregation and he was called to serve a pastor, which he did until 1960. His gift of preaching and maturity brought stability to the church during these transitional years.
