Women's Quilting Group
The church began a quilting group in 1975, with
approximately 15 - 20 members.
From 1979 to 1989, twenty-two large quilts
were made and given away during 1990 -1989. Thirteen large quilts and over
36 crib quilts were made. They also made at least 30 aprons for our dining
room. Ten were made for the lower dining room and 20 for the Upper
Room. Mounted in the stair well is our Centennial Quilt which each quilter
made 1 or 2 blocks depicting the church history from 1884 to 1984. See
the quilt.
On year they sewed at least 100 shirts for natives in
Ethiopia through one of our missionaries. They made a wall hanging for the
fireside room. Each woman appliquéd one or two blocks.
They have made several pillows, hot pads, and crib quilts
that were sold at Temple's Craft Fair, donating the proceeds to Temple.
Lord, will you take the pieces of my life
and make them into something beautiful?
I can't change the design you have in mind for me
and that's OK.
even though sometimes it doesn't feel OK.
In my heart you know the pattern You make
will be just right for my life..
Lord, some of the pieces are wonderful and bright,
and I love them.
I wish every square of my life quilt could be like that..
But some are ragged and tear stained.
and some speak of dark days
when I wondered if there was any pattern at all
to my life...
As I look back I see that You'd taken those pieces
and stitched them into place with others
that were brighter and lovelier than the rest.
Lord, I want my life quilt to be beautiful
not just something for people to admire..
but something to wrap the world up cozy and snug.
I want my life to be called
By Your most precious Name:
The Comforter
